Rob Breymaier has been working in housing and community development since the 1990s. He has led organizations dedicated to fair housing, affordable housing, and community development. In addition, he has held several key roles on boards, commission, and task forces. In 2022, Rob established Community Solutions Collaborative, LLC, a consulting firm for non-profits and local governments. Through CSC, Rob has completed Fair Housing Plans for the Knoxville, Grand Rapids, and Columbus. Rob also served as a consultant for the strategic plan of the Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund to transform their programming in ways that will better serve Chicago residents. He has created and managed a rapid rental assistance project in the Chicago region that has provided over $2MM in rental assistance and reduced eviction and homelessness on Chicago’s west side. He helped establish the Columbia Housing Center, worked with the Center to improve its capacity, and conducted an executive search that successfully hired its current executive director. Rob has also played leadership roles regionally and nationally. He was President of the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance from 2007 to 2017. In his role as the President of the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance, Rob oversaw the production of the Fair Housing and Equity Assessment for the Chicago region.
This document has been cited repeatedly as a model document on identifying strategies to promote regional equity. He also sat on many steering committees and task forces including the Housing Task Force for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, the Community Reinvestment Task force for the Illinois Reinvestment Coalition, and numerous task forces for Housing Action Illinois. Rob served as a
commissioner for the Cook County Human Rights Commission and as a Board Member for Oak Park District 97 Elementary Schools. Rob also served as COO for Heartland Housing, where he improved models for property management,
compliance, and resident services that improved financial performance and resident quality of life. Currently, Rob assists non-profits, governments, and other organizations in a variety of technical assistance roles including strategic planning, GIS Mapping, quantitative and qualitative analyses, program development and evaluation, executive search, research and analysis, and grant writing. Rob has a Master’s degree in Geography and Planning from the University of Toledo.
